In the south of the Andalusia region, on the much-loved Costa Del Sol, lies a charming Spanish destination with over 12 miles of coastline.
Less frequented than nearby tourist hotspots Marbella and Malaga, Estepona is a traditional town known as ‘The Costa Del Sol Garden’ and is much-loved by Spanish visitors.
Rightfully earning its affectionate nickname, the colourful cobbled streets of Estepona are adorned with fresh flowers.
The Old Town is easily walkable and a perfect chance to admire the atmosphere of a traditional Mediterranean town with white houses and vibrant flower pots.
Gemma Z, a Tripadvisor user from Madrid, urged fellow holidaymakers to “not miss”’ Estepona, and went on to say: “Highly recommended. Beautiful, clean, colourful, calm but nice ambience. Perfect to walk around and have dinner in any restaurant.”

While another user named Viajero from Las Palmas, described Estepona as: “Wonderful, beautiful and well-kept, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, with a very special charm and originality.”
Notable areas include the Plaza de las Flores de Estepona, known to visitors as the Orange Square, which is a great place to grab a bite to eat for hungry holidaymakers of all budgets, and the Paseo Maritimo de Estepona, a stunning newly refurbished pedestrianised beachfront.
Another Tripadvisor, going by the username Turista-Inglesa, described the Paseo Maritimo de Estepona as: “The most beautiful promenade you’ve ever seen!”

Just off the Paseo Maritimo de Estepona is the Playa de la Rada, Estepona’s most famous beach.
A stone’s throw away from the Old Town, la Rada beach is an ideal spot to dip your toes in the Mediterranean and soak up some of the town’s year-long sunshine.
One of the more distinctive buildings in Estepona is the Orchidarium – the largest in Spain, home to 1,300 species of Orchid from all over the world.
An affordable way to spend a few hours, entrance to the Orchidarium is €3 (£2.58) for an adult, and €1 (£0.85) for a child.
Another must-see in Estepona is the grand Nuestra Senora de Los Remedios, a stunning Catholic church located in the heart of the town – if you are able to catch a service, it offers an interesting insight into local traditions.
Another hidden gem is North Macedonia, the European country with hardly any tourists that’s considered one of “the most beautiful places on Earth”.
