One of the most iconic children’s books is A Secret Garden, this cottage has you guessed it, a private garden filled with as much magic and colour just like the story.

Suitably nestled in Kent, also known as the ‘Garden of England’, guests will feel like the great outdoors has been brought inside to their cosy abode.

Standout features at this accommodation include a log burner next to a cosy corner sofa, with a rustic fire pit in the secluded garden space.

Couples wanting an intimate getaway can relax in the wood-fired outdoor hot tub among the flowers decorated around.

Guests may feel like they have really gone back in time, as the site has no wifi or phone signal, a great way to disconnect from the outside world.

The Secret Garden Cottage costs £194 a night with a two-night minimum stay. More information can be found here.

The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit – Railway Cottage

Edith Nesbit’s ‘The Railway Children’ was first published in 1906 that was famously adapted into a film in the 1970s and a stage show.

Fans of the book can travel to Railway Cottage in Dunster, Somerset, a Victorian property overlooking the West Somerset Steam Railway.

Train enthusiasts will be delighted to see vintage locomotives passing right outside the accomodation with and the actual building was even designed by engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Sleeping up to six guests in three bedrooms, this holiday cottage has a glass-walled living room, a private garden, barbeque and its own outdoor hot tub.

The Exmoor National Park is only a short drive from the house, so there’s plenty of unspoilt countryside to see on your doorstep, or even the Somerset coast just a few kilometres away.

The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton – Enchanted Faraway Tree

Decorated with rustic furniture this cottage has a log burner, firepit and wood-fired hot tub, that’s perfect for a romantic retreat.

Though it’s not the hot tub that’s the highlight of this property, the indoor garden swing seat steals the show that overlooks the garden.

Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame – Boatmans

The Wind in the Willows has been on many children’s bookshelves for over one hundred years, where Toad and friends have embarked many adventures in print and on screen.
