You can now book a stay at Marriott’s newest Disney World hotel

The Points Guy logo

There’s a new way to use your points for a trip to Disney World — and reservations are open.

If you want to use hotel points to stay on Disney World property, you likely already know about Disney’s Swan and Dolphin hotels. While they’re on Disney’s grounds and within walking distance to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, they’re actually Westin and Sheraton properties where you can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points.

Similarly outfitted true Disney hotels can cost between $300 and $500 per night or more, so using your hotel points to stay inside the park can go a long way toward keeping the cash cost of a family trip to Disney World under control.

Now, a third tower is coming to this “Swolphin” development — a name we affectionately use for the two adjacent properties that share many amenities. Announced back in 2018, we now the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve will be a Category 6 Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel.

This could get a touch confusing, of course, as there will now be two adjacent towers with the Swan name.

The project reached a milestone over the summer when the construction topped off, and the property is on track for a summer 2021 grand opening. At this time, you can now make reservations from Sept. 1, 2021, with rooms available starting at an off-peak rate of 36,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night and going up to 60,000 points per night on peak nights. For travelers who would rather pay with cash, rates are available from $278 per night.

The pricing is consistent with both the Disney Swan and Dolphin hotels, both of which are also Category 6 properties that currently cost between 36,000 and 60,000 Marriott points per night. (Keep in mind that discounted 36,000 point rate is only available for booking until Feb. 21.)

The new tower will have 14 stories and 349 rooms — 149 of which will be suites designed for families of six to eight. As a Marriott Platinum member, I’m already doing some mental math on how available suite upgrades might be at this property.

The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve will have its own signature restaurant, a grab-and-go market, a health club and its own pool. Guests will have access to the amenities and pools at the Swan and Dolphin as well.

Other than the (very exciting) Star Wars-themed hotel (that’s really more experience than a traditional hotel) that will hopefully still open this year, additional new hotel construction may be slowing for a bit at Disney World. There’s evidence pointing toward at least a pause in the construction of the previously announced Disney Vacation Club nature-themed resort called Reflections that was to open in 2022.

But for travelers who are eager for something to look forward to, a summer stay at the all-new Walt Disney World Swan Reserve seems very much within reach now that reservations are open using points or cash.
