Woman ‘done dirty’ by Jet2 food served sandwich stuffed with handful of lettuce

Anyone who’s ever been on a plane knows that, unless you’ve shelled out for business class, the food is hardly gourmet.

On flights where meals are included it’s often a microwaved full English, curry or perhaps a vegetarian risotto on offer with a jelly-like pud.

While on budget airlines you usually need to bring your own snacks on board or else purchase something from the limited in-flight menu of sandwiche s, biscuits and instant coffee cups.

Thankfully, most of us are happy to munch on a simple sandwich when we’re on a short haul flight – whether ham, cheese or chicken.

But, one Jet2 customer was thoroughly disappointed when she was served the chicken and bacon roll she order mid-flight.

Tegan Insley, who has thousands of followers on TikTok, shared a video clip that was viewed more than a million times this week.

In the first shot she showed the advertised sandwich which was stuffed with chicken and bacon pieces as well as salad leaves in a crunchy bread roll.

However, she went on to show what she was served in-flight which was a bread bun filled with just butter and lettuce.

Tegan captioned the video: “Jet2 did us dirty with our food on the plane. Jet2 please explain this.”

In the comments, she added: “We hadn’t eaten in five hours due to the check in / security queues, so ended up shoving a tube of Pringles in the bread because we were so hungry.

When told she could have bought food in the airport, Tegan noted: “Well clearly not since we already came to the airport early to allow time for queues, we were waiting in security, we were boarding, so had no time?”

And, 60,000 people liked the video while hundreds shared their disappointing airline food stories.

One wrote: “I can relate to this. Ordered a stunning looking cheese and onion toastie. A microwaved stinky soggy sandwich arrived that was hard around the edges.”

While another noted: “I ordered chips on a flight and there was about four and they were stale.”

But, others complimented their favourite in-air munch.

One commenter said: “Cheese and ham toastie goes off tho.”

“I do recommend the cheese and tomato toastie, unreal,” said another.

While a third added: “Jet2 are a great airline. I think lots of them are having issues with catering at the minute. “

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: “We’re proud to deliver an award-winning experience from the moment people start their holidays with us, including our in-flight food and drinks.

"Our in-flight meals consistently receive great feedback from customers, we’d like to apologise to the customer for any inconvenience caused on this isolated occasion. We will look into this with our supplier."
