A former beauty pageant queen was left stunned when she was asked to "put on a blouse" on before a flight – or risk being banned from boarding.

Olivia Frances Culpo, 29, was called by the airline staff at the boarding gate when she was travelling to Cabo San Lucas with her sister, Aurora, on Thursday.

Her sibling said they were flying out on American Airlines as she explained on her Instagram story: "Olivia and I are going to Cabo and look at her outfit. She looks cute.

"She looks appropriate. They call her up at the desk and tell her that she needs to put a blouse on.

"Otherwise, she can't get on the plane. Tell me is that not so f*** up American Airlines."

Olivia is seen wearing a black sports bra and a pair of black bicycle shorts, as well as a knee-length cardigan.

She ends up putting on an oversized hoodie to cover her "modesty".

The pair then talk to a fellow plane passenger, who dons a similar outfit but a long pants.

Then the three of them discuss on the outfit in question, with the holidaymaker remarking: "That's weird".

Olivia re-posted her sister's video and joked: "Leave it to Aurora to cause a scene. Hide me."

The pair eventually made their way to the Mexican resort city.

In July, a model was left in tears after she was stopped by American Airlines for wearing "inappropriate clothing".

Deniz Saypinar said she was stopped by the boarding gate and was told "you're naked and you offend other families".

She took to Instagram and asked for viewers' opinions as she showed her outfit, claiming: "I'm not naked!"

According to American Airlines' online guidelines, under the section of "passengers' responsibility", it stated: "To ensure a safe environment for everyone, you must: Dress appropriately; bare feet or offensive clothing aren’t allowed."
