‘I’m sick of being ogled by lusty footy lads just because I’m an air hostess’

An air hostess has revealed her main passenger gripes, from the foul state of plane toilets to blokes' sleazy comments and pungent body odours.

The UK-based 24-year-old has been working as an air hostess for an Irish airline for less than a year but has already taken umbrage to the behaviour of some passengers.

The woman, who we'll call Sarah, has been left in a state of shock at the smell of "boozy footy fans", the rubbish people leave behind, the doziness of some passengers and sleazy comments from grown men.

Sarah, who works for a budget airline, will soon be making a move to one of the world's top luxury airlines and "couldn't be happier".

And while she likes her current post, she has told the Daily Star about the main gripes she has with passengers.

"I just can’t believe how stinking some people can be, to the point where they leave an aroma on the seat," she explained, saying that during the turnaround she hates inspecting the cabin.

"It’s just the fact that they’re grown ass men normally, I don’t even want to know what’s happening when they’re sitting on the seats.

"Especially the evening/weekend flights, lads who are maybe heading to a football match after sitting in a bar all day with something brewing inside."

Sarah added that even though after a flight she passes through the cabin two or three times asking if anyone has rubbish, after the flight passenger's seat pockets are "absolutely filled to the brim with rubbish."

She also said that people don't ever listen to the PA announcements, then ask questions about the information that has just been announced.

"It winds me up no end. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST LISTEN," she said.

But the state people leave the toilet in is much more of a pressing issue. "The toilet is absolutely boggin’ [slang for disgusting], I wish there was a separate one for staff to use. It can get nasty," she explained.

t Sarah said what's worse is that she is sometimes left feeling uncomfortable with men's suggestive and sleazy comments towards her.

"I’ve not dealt with too many passengers who’ve made me super uncomfortable but I would say while I understand why my name badge is there, I don’t like the way some men use my name," Sarah explained.

"It’s almost like quite suggestive, like turning to their mates and saying ‘Here, lads, Sarah* will take good care of us’.

"It has a sleazy undertone to it, almost like they fetishise me because I’m female cabin crew. Like they get off on their weird little fantasy."
