Singapore – a small island country with a massive heart

Singapore is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world for a lot of reasons!  A major stopover hub – it also has enough attraction in it’s own right for a longer stay!

Combining the skyscrapers and subways of a modern, affluent city with a medley of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences along with a tropical climate, tasty food and vibrant night-life scene, this Garden City makes a great stopover or springboard into the region.  More than 50% of Singapore is covered by greenery and with over 50 major parks and 4 nature reserves – is an enchanting garden city.

Founded as a British trading colony in 1819, since independence it has become one of the worlds most prosperous, tax-friendly countries and boasts the world’s busiest port.

Whilst you’re there…

Singaporean food is legendary, with bustling hawker centres and 24-hour coffee shops offering cheap food from all parts of Asia, and shoppers can bust their baggage allowances in shopping centres like Orchard Road and Suntec City. Some of the new glamorous rooftop bars views are second to none especially at the Marina Bay Sands (the iconic building that looks like three towers holding a boat in the air) where you can dance the night away sipping on a cocktail or two!

Other must sees include the Gardens by the Bay – no visit to Singapore is complete without it, where you’ll see some of the most exotic plants on the planet!  With the sculptures and the fauna, it really is something to behold and at night time it sparkles with light!

Sentosa Island is the place to head if you are more of a thrill seeker with treetop trails, water park, zip line, Universal Studios and much more!

So yes, whilst it offers the perfect stopover – try and extend that break and uncover so much more to Singapore; it really is a small island country with a big heart waiting to be discovered!
