Travelex opens foreign currency ATM at Heathrow Airport: Travel Weekly

Travelex has opened its new Foreign Currency ATM click-and-collect service at London Heathrow, which enables travelers to buy foreign currency online in advance of their trip, then collect it from an ATM at any time of day.

Travelex believes the service is an industry first.

To use the service, travelers place an order in advance on Travelex’s website. Then, they use their phone and credentials to collect the funds from an ATM. There are no collection fees.

Right now, customers can withdraw up to $800 in U.S. dollars or 800 euros via the ATMs, located in Terminal 5.
More currencies and locations are expected in the future. Next on the slate of airports is Brisbane in Australia, where ATMs are expected to be installed in the coming weeks.

The new service comes as Travelex puts an increased emphasis on new digital solutions to serve its customers.

“Customer trends continue to shift, and as they do so, we are pleased to be able to provide foreign currency cash solutions in new innovative ways, alongside our portfolio of digital products, including pre-paid currency cards,” Dan Gilby, Travelex’s strategy and products director, said in a release.
