Kensington Tours has launched custom, privately guided itineraries on four of Hawaii’s islands.
The new itineraries will focus on cultural tours, historical site visits and active adventures led by local guides in an effort to give guests a deeper understanding of Hawaiian culture.
Tours will happen on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island.
Guests will have the option to personalize routes, trip duration and day-to-day activities, in addition to working with a Kensington Tours destination expert who can arrange accommodations, private tours, airport transfers, interisland flights and car rentals.
The cultural tours are available while the Aloha State is working to revive its responsible-tourism initiative, the Malama Hawaii program. Malama Hawaii aims to educate tourists on how to meaningfully connect with Hawaiian culture, give back to the destination and preserve its resources and natural beauty for the future.
“Private guided touring is in sharp contrast to the traditional mass-market tourism that has generated negative sentiment,” said Kelly Torrens, director of product at Kensington Tours.
“Many of our partners have special permission to access to Hawaiian lands otherwise unavailable to tourists to ensure that they are visited in an environmentally and culturally respectful way,” Torrens said. “By visiting Hawaii with a private guide, clients will gain a deep understanding of Hawaiian perspective and culture.”
There are seven new itineraries travel advisors can book, with packages ranging from nine to 15 days. Oahu & Maui Signature, Historic Hawaii: Oahu & the Big Island and Magical Maui are among some of the new departures. Prices begin at $5,499 per person, based on double occupancy.
