In response to surging demand, active-travel specialist Backroads has added 13 new trips to its North America offerings for 2022, including a mix of biking, walking and multi-adventure tours.
The newly added itineraries include a Bryce & Capitol Reef Multi-Adventure Tour, Bryce & Capitol Reef Walking & Hiking Tour and Glacier to Banff Bike Tour, as well as several options suitable for teens and children, including a Bend Oregon & the Cascades Family Multi-Adventure Tour, Great Smoky Mountains Family Multi-Adventure Tour and Mount Rushmore & the Black Hills Family Multi-Adventure Tour.
Also joining the roster are seven additions to Backroads’ Dolce Tempo Trips program, which launched in 2019 and is designed to offer travelers a more relaxed pace.
These Dolce Tempo newcomers include the Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula Walking Tour, Canyonlands Walking Tour, Champagne/Alsace Easygoing E-bike Tour, Costa Rica Multi-Adventure Tour, Martha’s Vineyard & Nantucket Easygoing E-bike Tour, Rhine River Cruise Easygoing E-bike Tour and Santa Barbara to Ojai Easygoing E-bike Tour.
Backroads’ decision to grow next year’s trip lineup comes as the company reports record-high sales for 2022, with business up more than 100% from 2019 as of early August.
“If we’ve learned one thing from this global pandemic, it’s that people want to stay active and explore,” said Backroads founder and president Tom Hale in a statement. “We’re seeing huge demand for active travel in 2022, both domestically and internationally.”
