The UK’s prettiest winter walk is by the seaside with iconic landmarks

It’s not long until Christmas now, so it’s the perfect time to gather friends and family for a bracing winter walk.

Britons are lucky that the UK is packed with beautiful walking routes, ranging from national parks to city tours.

However, according to new research from Verdant Leisure, a gorgeous walk by the Sussex coast is the prettiest route to explore on a winter staycation.

The team looked at how popular routes were on social media, visitor ratings on Tripadvisor and the average rainfall between December and March to find the best walk.

According to the research, this year’s prettiest winter walk is the Seven Sisters route in Eastbourne in West Sussex.

A spokesperson said: “Taking the top spot on the list, with a five-star Tripadvisor rating and over 14.6 million engagements across social media, is Seven Sisters in Eastbourne.

“Getting its name from the iconic seven chalk cliffs that make up Sussex’s coastline, the Seven Sisters stretches across Eastbourne to Seaford, offering ocean clifftop views and refreshing coastal walks along the bottom.

“If you come during the winter, however, make sure you wrap up warm to protect you from that chilly sea air.”

Seven Sisters overlook the English Channel and are backed by open grassland. The cliffs are also home to several breeds of migratory birds.

‘Lweinvanaalst’ said: “The Seven Sisters are one of the most beautiful and iconic areas of the entire south English coast and should definitely be on your bucket list.”

Tourists should take care during the winter months as walking routes could be more slippery than usual.

It can also get very windy on the cliffs so make sure to wrap up warm and stick to designated pathways.
