With just over a month to go until Christmas Day, some Britons might have already got out the decorations and put their Christmas trees up.
But there’s still time to get away for a mini-break and explore one of Europe’s prettiest winter holiday destinations.
The team of travel experts at Bounce luggage storage pulled data together to find Europe’s best festive destination. Topping the ranking this year was beautiful Strasbourg in France.
With over three million Christmas market views on TikTok, it’s no surprise that Strasbourg is one of Europe’s most festive hotspots.
Strasbourg has held its Christmas market since the 1500s, making it one of Europe’s oldest markets.

The city’s Christkindelsmarik has over 300 chalets and stalls, spread across squares throughout Strasbourg.
With the air heavy with the smell of cinnamon and sugar, houses bedecked with lights and one of the continent’s tallest trees, Strasbourg knows how to celebrate Christmas.
It wouldn’t be a Christmas market without food and Strasbourg has a few seasonal specialities that shouldn’t be missed.

Bredle biscuits are a centuries old tradition in the Alsace region. The cookies come in a range of flavours from almonds and cinnamon to aniseed.
Designed in the shape of a person, manele are cute brioche treats made with raisins or chocolate chips.
Although it’s not a Christmas food, don’t miss flammekueche, a savoury regional dish. Formed from leftover bread dough, it’s covered in creme fraiche, lardons and onions.
While Strasbourg might be Europe’s prettiest festive city, it can be expensive during December. According to Bounce, the French city of Metz is the best-value Christmas market.
Meanwhile the team at Post Office Travel Money recently found that Riga, the capital of Latvia, is the best value destination for Christmas.
