People are only just realising how to get luggage unloaded first from planes

Going on holiday is so much fun, but parts of it can be stressful. Ensuring you get to the airport on time, clear security and are your transfer on the other end can all make you feel worried.

Well, apparently, you can relax about one aspect of flying from now on as people have realised there are ways to get your luggage first. Meaning once you’ve made it to the carousel from the plane you can grab it and go enjoy your trip.

Plus, the trick to getting your suitcase to be first off the plane is pretty simple, reports the Mirror. You just need to make sure you check-in last.

The travel theory, from Escape.com, is that as your suitcase was the last to be sent to the plane it will be loaded into the hold closest to the door. So when they go to offload the luggage your bag is right there.

Thomas Lo Sciuto, a ramp worker and gate agent at a regional airport in the US, told Quora: "Bags will always be loaded front to back on the bag carts so if you check in last your bags will be in the last bag cart."

However, if you generally feel stressed about checking-in, passing security and making it to the gate on time you may find coming in last a little scary. In that case you can apparently "gate-check" your bag.

This apparently means handing it over at the flight’s gate to put in the cargo hold – it will be left beside the access door ready for swift unloading upon landing. As gate checked bags usually go in the plane last they’re also more likely to come out first.

Now, gate-checking isn’t the perfect solution every time. Some airlines will ask for volunteers to gate-check their suitcase for free if it looks like the plane’s above-head lockers will be full.

Others allow you to gate-check for free at any time. While some will charge you a fee if you decide to gate-check at the last minute.

So, it’s worth researching the policy of your airline before you decide to do so. Other hacks for trying to get your bag out of the plane first include asking for a "fragile" sticker to be placed on the suitcase, reports news.com.au.

Plus, if you travel business or first class or you’re part of a loyalty scheme you may get your bags first or even on a separate carousel. While some airlines may let you pay a fee to have your luggage unloaded first.

We’d also recommend removing any old flight tags as these could confuse the baggage system and result in your bags being lost or delivered to the incorrect destination.
