A holidaymaker who found himself to be the only passenger on his flight has now revealed that he’s in a group chat with the crew. The lad had boarded the American Airlines flight from Oklahoma after an 18-hour delay.
Phil Stringer shared his tale on TikTok, @phil.stringer, and gained millions of views after it went viral. Originally, Phil had been meant to board his flight at 6.20am to Charlotte, North Carolina, last Sunday. However, after multiple delays he was the only passenger who had waited long enough to board the flight.
When he got onto the plane, Phil realised he’d just been upgraded – to a private flight as he was the only person on the plane except for the crew. "I'm the only person on the plane and they have the entire flight crew. They do not want to do this flight," he said in the now-viral TikTok video.

“It was delayed 18 hours and everyone else gave up,” he added. He also said: "I didn't know that I was the only passenger until the very end. I was on the opposite end of the airport working. When I get to the gate, there was no one there."
But, it seemed the staff weren’t put off by their solo holidaymaker as they sat him in the front row, performed the safety warning with dance moves and sat back and relaxed themselves.
Plus, Phil even got First Class food and drinks to enjoy while flying. He told the New York Post: "I believe that your attitude determines your destination.
"Yeah it was a sucky day. No one wants to stay in the airport for 18 hours, but if you have a positive view, you can turn something into a lot of fun."
Now, it seems that Phil was so liked by the crew they added him to a group chat after the flight. He told People: "We exchanged numbers, so I'm friends with all of the crew now. We're in a group message together."
The embarrassed bloke claims he “apologised a dozen times” to the crew for being the only person on-board. But, he says they checked on him “100 times” and they even joked around throughout the journey.
Phil isn’t the only person to have been treated like royalty when alone on a plane. Kai Forsyth is from Derby but goes to college in the US and was returning back to the States when he had "the weirdest experience" of flying in a plane he said carried no passengers except himself and the crew.
He managed to make a bed by putting the arm rests down and using four seats to lie down. He was also handed a whole box of biscuits as well as “all the snacks and unlimited food”.
