‘I refused to swap plane seats so mum could sit with her kid – hell f***ing no’

A furious flyer blasted a mum who had “the audacity” to request a seat swap to sit next to her toddler.

Taking to Reddit to share their frustrations, the traveller claimed it’s “not my problem they didn’t book together”.

The nameless passenger wasn’t willing to give up their window seat on a transpacific flight to Japan from the US.

The toddler sat next to them in the middle seat and when the mum, who was directly behind the little girl, asked to swap – the agitated customer replied “hell the f**k no”.

They explained on the Reddit post: “She asked me – and just me – to switch with her so she could have my window seat (next to her daughter) and I’d take her middle seat a row back.

“Hell to the f**k no.”

The peeved passenger continued to blast the mother for the unfair deal as they would have got an “inferior trade”.

They added: “Worse is we were surrounded by others from her tour group that she could’ve asked for a three-way trade instead. Or the tour operator.

“The audacity to ask just me and expect an inferior trade on my side.”

Commenters on the thread were left divided as to whether the passenger should have given up his seat for the mother.

One scathing person replied: “It’s not always possible for families to book seats together for some reason, and go figure, sometimes they need to fly places.

“[I don’t know] what the answer is here but being infuriated about a mom trying to watch their own kid is dumb.”

Another disdainful Redditor added: “Sounds like you’re a heartless f**k. Hell will be good for you.”

But others agreed that sharing the chair would have been the wrong option.

A third wrote: “My rule of thumb is: 1). Will only change an aisle for an aisle (my preference).

“2). Will never change an aisle or a window for a middle.

A fourth agreed: “I just started refusing altogether. Unless it’s for an upgrade.

“I’m sick of entitlement from people, and it seems elevated on planes and even more so of late.”
