Universal Studios Hollywood Is Reopening on April 16 With New Safety Guidelines

After more than a year, Universal Studios Hollywood will reopen its doors this April with brand-new safety guidelines in place. The California theme park closed due to the ongoing pandemic on March 12, 2020, and, like Disneyland, stayed closed through the rest of the year in compliance with state guidelines.

“We’re rolling out the red carpet to resume operations and welcome guests back to the theme park beginning on Friday, April 16,” reads Universal’s site, which adds that there will be a “special Pass Member Preview day” just for Pass Members on April 15.

The park will open with limited capacity to California residents to start, and will limit party sizes to a maximum of three households and 10 people. “Universal Studios Hollywood continues to work in partnership with health and government officials to implement new health and safety procedures that include physical distancing [and] required face coverings,” reads the announcement. Additionally, employees and guests will need to undergo temperature checks before entering the park, and there will be contactless payment options and “no touch” policies where possible. While most rides will be operational come April 16, some attractions and shows will stay closed until further notice.
