Chris White is the founder and CEO of Ideal Homes Portugal. He said: “Blessed with amazing weather, stunning beaches and picture perfect towns, the Algarve remains popular with both holidaymakers and property buyers”.
Ideal Homes Portugal said that 2021 was their best year yet with over 320 properties sold this year, four times the average figure.
Chris said: “2021 was a record breaking year for us with hundreds of homes sold to a wide range of buyers.
“We saw considerable demand for Lagos and surrounding areas with buyers drawn to the restaurants, historical attractions and high-quality medical facilities as well as the beautiful beaches and pristine golf courses on the doorstep.”
Chris said that Lagos would be the best destination for British families looking to relocate to the beautiful Algarve.
He told Express.co.uk: “It’s close to plenty of beaches, has lots of activities for the family, historical landmarks, the marina, good schools, a hospital and clinics nearby, restaurants, shops…the list is endless!
“It’s currently one of the most popular areas we sell property in both for investment and relocation.”
Lagos has a population of just over 20,000 residents with many tourists visiting in summer.
Chris added: “Albufeira is the largest tourist resort in the Algarve, popular with expats relocating to the Algarve with a large portion of the town’s population being non-Portuguese.”
British expats who opt to live in Albufeira may find it easier to settle in if they don’t speak the language.
It’s also the perfect destination to host family members or invest in a property to rent out.
Chris said: “Vilamoura is the largest privately owned, purpose built sport and tourism resort in Europe with an award winning yacht marina.
“It’s a golfer’s paradise with six championship standard golf courses.”
Vilamoura could be a great spot for retired British expats who will be able to keep fit on the resort’s golf courses.
Chris told Express.co.uk: “Fuseta is a lovely little fishing village situated just to the east of Faro.
“A traditional town with a fish market just next to the quay and Fuseta island which is accessible by water taxi and has a lovely long stretch of ocean beach.”
Fuseta could suit British expats who still want to experience traditional life on the Algarve as well as enjoying tourist amenities.
Chris added: “Tavira is a very popular holiday destination that combines beautiful beaches and traditional Portuguese culture.
“Regarded as one of the most beautiful towns of the Algarve, you will find a unique mix of traditional architecture with Moorish influences.
“This historic town with its picturesque plazas and cobbled streets has everything you could desire for a great holiday home.”
