The holiday agent has announced the addition of new flights going to the green list destinations Portugal and Madeira. TUI has responded to the growing demand from customers who are looking to enjoy the summer holiday in green list countries as soon as possible.

The company wants to give more choice to those who want to go away at the end of May.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced last night the countries where UK citizens will be able to go to without needing to quarantine upon their return.

Luckily for Brits, one of the few destinations included in the green list is Portugal.

The country has always been a very popular destination for UK travellers.

Unfortunately, Spain – another UK favourite – is on the amber list, which means a 10 day quarantine will be required upon return.

The new flights to Portugal will be departing from London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.

TUI chose the cities of Funchal (Madeira) and Faro (Portugal) to add additional weekly flights from these UK airports.

The first flight to Funchal will depart from Birmingham on May 17 and the first additional flight to Faro will operate from Bristol on May 20.

Madeira’s sub-tropical climate makes it well-placed for exploring its dramatic scenery and nature.

Portugal’s Algarve has some of the best golden sandy beaches in the Mediterranean.

Managing director for the UK and Ireland, Andrew Flintham said: “These destinations have always been firm favourite for Brits, so it’s no surprise demand has increased following speculation they could be available from May 17 without the need to quarantine on return.”

The company has also announced that prices for the summer holiday had not been increased ahead of the travel list Government’s announcement.

Mr Flintham explained: “Our prices are very, very stable.”

“They’re pretty much like for like, flat, year over year. There isn’t a big increase in there.

“We want to get people away on holiday, having a great time, because we think they genuinely all deserve it.”

“We’ve got plenty of holidays to sell. I think everybody in the industry has.”

TUI also wanted to reassure passengers that already have a booking to a now amber destination.

The agent said that customers have the flexibility to change their holiday to a ‘green’ destination under the free change policy in place for bookings up to and including August 31, 2021.

Some of TUI’s new package holiday start from £515 per person.

TUI recently introduced subsidised COVID-19 testing packages for those passengers flying with them this summer.

The mandatory pre-departure and post-return PRC test is usually £120.

TUI is now offering them from just £20.

Portugal has been picked by Express.co.uk as one of the best destinations without restrictions to go to.
