The hotel is in a great location for exploring London a stone’s throw from the Southbank and Westminster. Nearby attractions include Big Ben, the London Dungeons, Shrek’s Adventure and the Sea Life London Aquarium, which features one of the largest collections of underwater creatures in Europe. The hotel has 399 non-smoking rooms featuring Superior Room, Studio Rooms, Executive Studios and Junior Suites.
We checked in to the hotel to find we had a lovely room on the 11th floor with a great view of the iconic London Eye – a sight to behold when lit up at night.
Our junior suite was very spacious and had all we needed for a comfortable stay. The decor was cream with black and white artwork of London landmarks.
There was a kitchenette area, which had a Nespresso coffee machine, mini bar, sink and microwave.
The living room had a comfy sofa bed with plasma-screen TV with satellite channels, giving plenty of room to relax and unwind.
The black and white bathroom was stocked with Elemis products, a fluffy dressing gown and slippers and there was a walk-in rainfall and handheld shower plus separate bath.
The bedroom had the best view by far with the London Eye right outside. Other rooms benefit from views of the Shard and the City or Waterloo station.
After getting settled in it was a just short walk along to the vibrant South Bank where plenty was going on. The Southbank is a pedestrianised river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge.
There were street entertainers, fairground rides and plenty of places you could get food and drink. Or you could just sit back and soak up the atmosphere and admire iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament and St Paul’s Cathedral.
The London Eye is worth a go. Its Europe’s tallest observation wheel and is 125 metres high and takes 30 minutes to travel one revolution and you can see for 25 miles on a good day.
We crossed the river and walked up to popular tourist attraction Trafalgar Square and then onto Covent Garden for some shopping.
Coming back to our hotel after some retail therapy you could relax in the hotels spa, which offers a range of massages, facials, hot stone treatments as well as manicure and pedicures.
For the more sporty type among us, there is well-equipped gym which is open 24 hours a day.
The hotel also has an Italian restaurant offering authentic Italian cuisine and also a bar and cafe.
After a good nights sleep breakfast was buffet style and there was plenty to choose from – hot and cold. We opted for a full English which set us up for the day.
For anyone seeking a hotel in a great location to all the city’s top restaurants, sights and events then look no further!
