Grand Wailea adds to culinary team

Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort announced the appointment of a new sushi chef and executive pastry chef at the Maui resort.

Tadashi Yoshino takes over as new sushi chef, making the short journey over from the neighboring resort, Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, where he served as sushi chef for 14 years. This is a return for Yoshino, who started his career as a sushi chef at the Grand Wailea and worked there for nearly a decade before moving on.

“We love welcoming past employees back into the Grand Wailea Ohana,” Allan Federer, managing director of Grand Wailea said in a statement. “It is a privilege to have Tadashi join us with his knowledge of the brand and Grand Wailea’s values. We couldn’t be happier to have such and esteemed Sushi Chef as a member of the team.”

Fabrice Benezit has been tapped for the executive pastry chef position, making the much longer trip from the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., where he served as the executive pastry chef for the past two years. Previously, Benezit has also work at The Waldorf Astoria Orlando.

“Fabrice brings a unique background and value to the food and beverage team,” Alla Federer, managing director of Grand Wailea said in a statement. “We enjoy adding new talent with a fresh outlook, especially in a creative space and industry where nothing is off limits.”
