Tickets are moving fast and virtual lines are filling up after Monterey Bay Aquarium announces its reopening

Tickets are moving fast for one of California’s beloved aquariums after the attraction announced its reopening after being closed for 13 months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Monterey Bay Aquarium already reopened to members on May 1, and general admission tickets are on sale for May 15 through July 31. There were more than 7,000 users waiting online to get their tickets as of 3 p.m. ET Wednesday.

“We are ecstatic. It’s been a very, very long 14 months,” Monterey Bay Aquarium COO Cynthia Vernon told the Marin Independent Journal.

Tickets must be reserved in advance, and the aquarium will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays until June 1.

Tickets for Aug. 1 to Sept. 30 will go on sale June 1, and on July 1 tickets will be available through December 31.
