San Diego Zoo Global rallies for Australian Wildlife Relief
San Diego Zoo Global has raised a significant amount of $500,000, to be donated to Australian Wildlife Relief in wake of the recent bushfires. The donations were raised through a one-day fundraiser, admission and on-site sales, and online donations from the community who are united in their love for animals the world over.
The generous donations will provide support for the treatment of injured Australian animals and contribute to long term population recovery efforts. San Diego Zoo Global has seen overwhelming support and appreciation by the community and its partners; a testament to the willingness of those in the U.S. to come together for Australia. And in true Aussie fashion, the fundraiser will continue to run until Australia Day on the 26th January.
San Diego Zoo Global is an international non-profit conservation organisation that supports worldwide conservation projects to prevent animal species from extinction. The organisation has been working with leading Australian wildlife organisations for almost 100 years with staff working on the ground in Australia in animal care and research.
Since welcoming their first koala pair, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, in 1925, San Diego Zoo and Safari Park have been famous for having the largest koala colony and most successful breeding program outside of Australia.
