Norwegian Sun to resume Alaska cruises on July 14: Travel Weekly

The Norwegian Sun is expected to resume operations on July 14 after striking a small iceberg in Alaska on June 25, causing the line to shorten a cruise and cancel two others.

Norwegian Cruise Line cut short a sailing after hitting the growler, a fragment of ice about the size of a grand piano. The line subsequently canceled its June 30 and July 5 roundtrip Alaska voyages out of Seattle while the ship underwent repairs.

This is the second time this year that NCL has had to cancel voyages due to collisions with nature. The first was in March when the Norwegian Escape grounded on a channel bed in the Dominican Republic. The line ultimately canceled four voyages while the ship underwent repairs.
