Aurora Anguilla is joining the Salamander Hotels portfolio: Travel Weekly

Salamander Hotels & Resorts will assume management of the Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club, formerly the Cuisinart Resort, on April 26.

Owner Richard Schulze, founder of Best Buy, purchased the 300-acre Aurora Anguilla in 2020, which recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation.

The 178-suite resort features seven restaurants and lounges, a 27,000-square-foot spa with 16 treatment rooms, a hydroponic farm and orchard, and the 18-hole Aurora International Golf Club, a championship course recently redesigned by Greg Norman. A nine-hole short course will open this summer.

The newest restaurant is D. Richard’s, Anguilla’s only steakhouse. A newly designed version of the resort’s Japanese restaurant will open this summer.

“We are dedicated to making Aurora Anguilla the finest resort in the Caribbean, and I’m proud of the enhancements we have made to date,” Schulze said, adding that his goal is to appeal to a broad range of luxury travelers, including families.

Through the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, he is supporting various causes on the island, including food insecurity, educational technology, healthcare as well as developing a local school lunch program and a neighborhood health clinic.

The Salamander portfolio includes Half Moon Resort in Jamaica; the Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, Va.; Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla.; and Hotel Bennett in Charleston, S.C. The company will assume management of the Aspen Meadows Resort in Colorado in May.
