Woman wears all her clothes to avoid paying for excess bagage at the airport

Extra costs while flying are the worst.

And if you get the luggage weight wrong, you'll often end up paying a hefty sum.

But one savvy woman made the decision to wear all her clothes to avoid an excess baggage fee at the airport.

Gel Rodriguez went as far as to wear two kilograms of extra clothing in the form of pants, shirts, jackets and long-sleeve tops.

In a Facebook post which has since gone viral, Gel explained how airline staff informed her that her carry-on exceeded with maximum weight of 7 kilograms at 9 kilograms.

She told VICE: "I didn't want to pay the fee for the excess baggage because it was only two kilograms."

And while she managed to avoid the baggage fee, Gel doesn't advise others to do the same.

Gel told the publication: "It was really hot. I don't recommend other people do it."

Since posting on social media, with the hashtag #ExcessBaggageChallengeAccepted Gel's post has gone viral.

It's received over 20,000 shares and 804 comments, as well as 5.6k likes at the time of writing.

Many commented what a "good idea" it was while others said Gel's quick thinking was "brilliant".

It's not the first time this has been done, earlier this year a man channelled "Joey from Friends" to avoid excess baggage fees.

John Irvine decided to layer up to avoid Easy Jet's excess baggage fees and the whole thing was documented on his son's Snapchat.

In one hilarious scene John can been seen with multiple tops on as the caption read: "About 13 t-shirts down the line."

John's son Josh told The Mirror at the time that some of his own clothes were in his dad's suitcase but he declined to mention it because he was "too busy recording him."
