If you are planning a holiday to Spain this winter, there are warnings that certain areas in the country could be no-go zones.
Although the popular holiday hotspot is open to open to UK citizens, with the Foreign Office allowing non-essential travel to the country, there are still travel warnings to be aware of, according to MyLondon.
This includes an ash cloud, shark sightings and a tsunami warning.
Airport closed
The airport on the Spanish Island of La Palma closed this week due to a massive cloud of ash from a volcanic eruption.
A huge cloud of ash was seen spewing from the volcanic eruption, which began on September 19.
A build-up of ash and dust on the runway meant local authorities had to ground flights on Thursday, said AENA, an air traffic operator.
A spokesperson for air traffic operator AENA said the eruption is unlikely to to pose any wider risks to air travel for now.
The UK's Foreign Office said: "On Sunday, September 19 2021, at approximately 15.15 local time, there was a volcanic eruption on the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma. The immediate areas of Los Llanos de Aridane, Tazacorte and El Paso have been evacuated.
"If you are in an affected area, you should follow the advice of local authorities, including social media updates from Cabildo de La Palma.
"If you are planning to travel to the island imminently, you are encouraged to contact your tour operators/airlines."
Tsunami Warning
Don't panic yet, but Tenerife could become victim to a devastating tsunami after a series of recent extreme weather events, scientists have warned.
Experts said the recent volcanic eruption in the Canary Islands could be the trigger of such a severe natural disaster.
This would reportedly result in a tsunami that would most likely have a severe impact not only on the northern and western coasts of Tenerife, but also on other coasts of the archipelago.
Shark Sightings
There have been shark sightings at a popular Spanish beach frequented by tourists.
This means swimmers have been banned from entering the water at the beach on the on the Costa Blanca, following the shark sighting.
The shark was spotted off the shore of the Playa del Portet beach in Teulada, according to the Mirror.
British tourists flock to the beach every year, and the warning will remain until further notice.
Swimming has also been banned on beaches in the municipality between Valencia and Alicante.
