Autumn is the perfect season to enjoy a staycation in the UK. But where is this month’s sunniest holiday spot? LotteryCritic.com revealed where is still experiencing sunshine this month.

Sittingbourne was ranked as the UK’s best destination for a staycation in September this year. 

The small town in Kent in south-east England is expected to experience the country’s best weather this month. 

The town is expected to have 176 hours of sunshine and just 46mm of rainfall across the whole of September. 

Temperatures will be an average of 15 degrees in the Kent town which could be the ideal staycation spot this month. 

Visitors to Sittingbourne will want to take a ride on the Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway, a great family day out.

Tourists can also explore the Old Forge War Time House, a history museum which gives visitors a glimpse of the past.

Ipswich was ranked as the second best staycation destination in the UK to explore during September.

The town in Suffolk sits on the River Orwell and has a waterfront lined with cafes, shops and galleries.

Ipswich is set to enjoy 169 hours of sunshine in September and an average temperature of over 15 degrees.

London rounded off the top three best staycation destinations in the UK for September and could be the perfect city to explore during autumn. 

The capital has an incredible range of attractions, from The Tower of London to the Sky Garden viewpoint. 

Visitors in autumn will be able to enjoy the city’s parks which will explode with colour during the fun season.

Families could also enjoy a day out at one of the city’s museums, such as the Natural History or Science museum. 

London is expected to have just 44mm of rainfall during September with over 160 hours of sunshine. 

Gillingham and Gravesend rounded off the top five best destinations for an autumn staycation. 

Britons could also head to Clacton-on-sea to enjoy a bracing autumn walk along the British coastline.
