TUI IS set to cut the cost of Covid tests and make them more affordable for UK travellers flying to green list countries this summer. The holiday agent has announced today that it will subsidise the cost of mandatory testing, which could save UK holidaymakers hundreds of pounds.
This comes a day before the Government is expected to reveal the classification of each country following the new traffic light system that will be in place on the 17th of May, the same day that is set to relax the travel ban from the UK.
Those countries allowed on the Government’s green list will be quarantine free.
This will mean that people can travel without the need to quarantine on return.
TUI wants to make holidays more affordable and avoid leaving some travellers unable to go on holiday for financial reasons.

According to TUI, the packages are targeted at passengers travelling to green and amber list countries and will range between £20 and £90, depending on destination.
Both pre-departure and post-return tests will be available.
Some countries expected to be on the green list are Portugal, Malta, or Gibraltar.
When travelling to and from a green country, the £20 package will be applicable which will include a pre-departure lateral flow test and a PCR test on day two after their return.

Travellers going to amber list destinations will have to get the £50 package as coming from these countries will be more restrictive.
According to Government guidance, a 10 days quarantine upon arrival to the UK will be required when coming from an amber country.
The package includes a pre-departure lateral flow test and two PCR tests upon return.
The majority of Europe, including some of the most popular holiday destinations for Brits, will be on the amber list.
Spain, France, Italy, or Greece will likely be part of the most restrictive list.
However, it is expected that most European countries will be moved to the green list by the end of June.
TUI expects that the cost-cutting of mandatory tests will encourage holidays and increase the number of bookings for this next summer.
PCR tests cost £120 on average, although some companies are offering them for £60.
Andrew Flintham, managing director of TUI UK & Ireland said: “Our research has shown that customers are looking forward to their much-needed holiday overseas, but affordable and easy testing solutions was imperative to make this a reality.”
“The four new exclusive testing packages have been developed with our customers in mind.
“They’re offered at greatly reduced prices, include certification to travel and will be a simple process from start to finish.”
“Also, should testing requirements change between purchase and travel, for example if an amber package is purchased and the destination moves onto the green list, we’ll simply refund the difference,” he added.
