Flights aren’t generally very comfortable experiences unless you’re seated in business class. Those of us in economy have to put up with noisy fellow flyers, cramped seats and smelly lavatories.
But, on the plus side at least some airlines still include a meal in the price of your journey
While in-flight food isn’t always delicious – and can even be unhealthy – it comes as a relief when your stomach is rumbling. When meal service begins most of us want to get our food as quickly as possible – and there is one hack that could snag you yours first.

An expert has shared her tip that means that no matter where you’re sitting on the plane you’ll be one of the first on-board to have your entire meal set down in front of you. This means it's also more likely that it will be hotter than if you've had to wait a while.
Victoria Baillie, Skyscanner PR Manager, revealed her expert tactic for fast food on Skyscanner’s website, reports the Express. She said: "Choose the Asian-vegetarian option on the plane."
The asian-vegetarian meal is one of several pre-order meals that you have to ask for on your booking or at least a day before boarding. It's available on British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Singapore Airlines among others.
Other special meals include vegetarian, gluten free, nut- or dairy-free and vegan meals. Every airline varies in the special meal options they offer.
Victoria added: "You get fed before anyone else, you avoid anything too greasy and stodgy (helps the jetlag allegedly) and I’m convinced the more niche meals are much better quality as they’re made in smaller batches."
If you’re simply not willing to give up meat to get your meal first then there is another option to get your food quickly. Kamila Jakubjakova, a flight attendant of a number of years has shared how she maximising her chances of eating what she wants.
If you pre-book your seat, chose the front of the plane or as close to it as you can get in economy, she notes. You’ll feel the benefit when it comes to mealtimes.
"The food service usually starts from the front of the airplane, so you'll get to dine first if you sit in the very first rows of an aircraft," she told eShores. "Sitting in the front rows also means you're more likely to get your preferred choice of meal if two meal options are available."
Alternatively, you can check what special meals are available on your airline to see if they do a meat option. Singapore Airlines offers everything from Kosher and Halal meals to vegetarian-oriental, vegetarian-Indian, diabetic, low fat meals, seafood only meals and even bland meals that avoid anything rich like cocoa, black pepper, spice or alcohol.
Meanwhile British Airways offers asian-vegetarian, vegan. Hindu, Jain, Halal and Kosher meals. Plus, children’s or diabetic meals, low salt, low calorie, low fat and more on its airline.
