When it comes to UK travel there’s plenty to see, forests, beaches and big cities galore – not to mention the UK’s only “desert”.
So if you want to tick “desert” off your bucket list without trekking to Dubai, travel enthusiast @lotteboo3 has you covered.
The TikTok creator took to the sharing platform to talk about the hidden gem that is Dungeness, Kent.
She said: “There’s just one desert in the UK and it’s not quite what you’d imagine. But in its own eerie, otherworldly way, it’s beautiful.
“And if you’re looking for unique things to do in the UK I can’t recommend it enough.”

Enter Dungeness on the coast of Kent, which the travel lover describes as “post-apocalyptic” but “beautiful” all the same.
Posting snapshots of the cool area, she revealed that it is home to decaying boats, old lighthouses and even two non-operational nuclear power stations.
Nature lovers will also love Dungeness, as it’s home to more than 600 types of plants.

The weird and wonderful place has been described as the “fifth hidden quarter” of the world.
@lotteboo3 added that the housing and architecture here is “absolutely amazing”, a “photographer’s dream” in fact.
With an “ethereal light to everything”, it’s the ideal place to explore. There’s even a pebbly beach.
The globetrotter suggested that visiting Dungeness could “really change your perception of what beauty is”.
The TikTok comments section was brimming with love for the unusual place.
@fayy_21x said: “Been there during sunset time and honestly it’s beautiful but does have an eerie feeling.” @jaybrooker2016 added: “I love this place. I used to go there every week.”
@lady_London27 said at the time the video was posted: “I went there today. It’s an incredible place.”
While The Guardian reported that Dungeness does not actually qualify for desert status – it receives 250 millimetres of precipitation a year and does not have a major difference in day and night temperatures – it’s still a spectacular location to visit.
