A nudist beach in the UK has been compared to the Caribbean thanks to its soft sands, crystal-clear waters and gorgeous surrounding scenery.

Pedn Vounder, in Cornwall, is a nudist-friendly beach on the south coast known for its towering cliff, bright blue waters and white sand. It can be accessed either by boat or on food through a coastal path along the beach.

The hidden gem is secluded and sits about 400m east of Porthcurno, Pedn Vounder is so pretty that it was even featured in TV’s Polsark as part of a dream sequence.

While it is an unofficial nudist beach stripping off is accepted on Pedn Vounder and people often do. Reviews on Tripadvisor rate the tropical-looking beach at 4.5 out of five.

TikTok page @ventureUK named Pedn Vounder as one of the best beaches in England, not to mention that it consistently wows visitors.

Earlier this year, one Brit wrote: "Stunning little beach, difficult to get to, don’t go if not nimble on your feet. Yes, it’s a nudist beach, lots of nude folk, so if offended don’t go. There’s lots of other beaches nearby where you can eear as much as you like, leave the nudes to their own thing."

Another, named Rachel, added: "This is the most beautiful hidden gem. Beautiful clear turquoise sea. No cafe or shop so take your own refreshments.

"It is a nudist beach so if your easily offended…don't go. There were lots of families also – both living in harmony. The climb up is not for the faint hearted but most definitely worth it. The views are breath taking."

The beach's spectacular surroundings and soft sands were also a hit, with one happy holidaymaker noting that "you could be mistaken to think you were in the Caribbean", while another said that "anyone saying this place is anything other than divine is not telling the truth".

Andrew, from Richmond, said: "This beach is probably the best in Cornwall. What makes it so special is the fact that it’s not easy to get to.

"At the end of a long and winding footpath with some parts right on the cliff edge and with a steep climb down, it’s not one for the faint. A sudden scramble back may be needed when the tide turns! This is an unofficial nudist beach with clothed and nudes mixing together without the bat of an eyelid. A totally relaxing beach."

Tourists should be aware that the walk down to the beach can be tricky and so it’s not for the faint hearted. You should bring plenty of water and your own food as there aren’t any shops on the beach.

Always remember to wear sunscreen to protect your skin when swimming or sunbathing in summer. Plus, be aware of when the tides turn and keep an eye out for riptides as Pedn Vounder is not manned by lifeguards.

Dogs are allowed on Pedn Vounder all year round, according to Cornwall Beaches, and there is a car park about 10 minutes walk away in the village of Treen.

Of course there are dozens of fabulous beaches in the UK from Scotland’s crystal clear waters to the wide beaches of Camber Sands. Some in Cornwall have been likened to tropical coves while others are great for dogs all year round.

But, there’s a particular niche of UK seaside life that doesn’t get spoken about very often. Nudists claim that there’s nothing better than sunbathing in the buff or going skinny dipping.

Fiona and Michael Discombe, both in their 50s have spent £15k on naked holidays. They discovered their love for going nude on a nudist beach in Greece.

Fiona noted: "It was so freeing, feeling the elements on bare skin, and it made me want to be nude all the time." But, you don’t have to jet off abroad to capture the same feeling.
