From the USA to China, British tourists still need to plan for travel restrictions. Which countries still have Covid restrictions?
China
China has one of the world’s strictest Covid policies and visitors will need to quarantine for 10 days when they arrive.
At least seven days will be spent at a centralised facility and the next three days may be spent at home if the accommodation is judged suitable.
Tourists are not currently allowed to visit China but tour groups organised by travel agencies may be allowed in the coming months.
Tourists are also banned from travelling to Turkmenistan and must also quarantine in Nauru.
USA
Unvaccinated British tourists are not allowed to travel to the USA as only unvaccinated US citizens are allowed.
Even if unvaccinated tourists have tested positive for Covid in the last year they can’t enter the USA unless they meet one of a list of limited exceptions.
Fully vaccinated Britons can travel to the USA for a holiday and do not have to quarantine on arrival.
The USA recommends tourists take a viral test within three to five days of arrival in the country.
Indonesia
Tourists will need to show proof of vaccination to enter Indonesia for a holiday and will have their temperature checked on arrival.
If their temperature is high they may need to take a Covid test and will have to isolate at their own expense if they test positive.
Unvaccinated tourists will need to take a test on arrival and will be required to quarantine according to the FCDO advice.
The Indonesian Government will accept the UK NHS vaccine certificate as proof of vaccination.
