Exclusive for Mail on Sunday readers: Cruise the majestic fjords of Iceland and meet Carol Kirkwood
Iceland has so much to offer lovers of the natural world – from geothermal springs and towering mountains to magnificent fjords where humpback whales breach in icy waters.
There’s no better way to experience the dramatic landscapes and wildlife than on an adventure cruise, and our luxury two-week trip this September will take you to many highlights of this magical country.
To make the holiday extra-special, you’ll have the opportunity to meet popular television weather presenter Carol Kirkwood. She will join you on an excursion and give an insightful talk and question-and-answer session in Iceland’s capital and largest city, Reykjavik.
On this unforgettable trip, you’ll be sailing in style on Balmoral, an elegant cruise ship specially designed to get up close to Iceland’s natural wonders. While aboard, you will enjoy a range of fabulous ship-board facilities, including the Atlantis Spa, two heated swimming pools and a range of dining venues.
Dramatic: During The Mail on Sunday’s two-week trip to Iceland, you’ll see some of the country’s spectacular waterfalls, including the Godafoss waterfall (above)
The itinerary has been carefully crafted to include some of Iceland’s greatest natural attractions.
You will have opportunities to see the dramatic Seydisfjordur fjord, the impressive Strokkur geyser and the powerful waterfalls of Gullfoss and Godafoss.
You’ll cruise on Iceland’s longest fjord, Eyjafjordur, and along the Borgarfjordur Eystri fjord – according to Icelandic folklore, home to a large population of elves. Borgarfjordur Eystri is one of the best places in Iceland to spot puffins.

MEET OUR SPECIAL GUEST
You will be joined by Carol Kirkwood
Scottish weather presenter Carol Kirkwood trained with the Met Office and has been presenting the weather for more than 20 years. She famously danced with Pasha Kovalev in the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The itinerary includes a trip to Akureyri, a brilliant location for spotting humpback whales in their natural habitat. The whales feed here in the cobalt waters, occasionally leaping out of the water to put on a show.
On the way home, there’s a stop at Torshavn in the Faroe Islands.
Balmoral will be your home for the fortnight. There will be a total of six days at sea, with five-course à la carte dinners, casual breakfasts and lunch buffets included.
REASONS TO BOOK
On-board entertainment: When the lights go down aboard Balmoral, you’ll be treated to a schedule of excellent entertainment, from music and cabaret to stand-up comedy. Just sit back and enjoy the performances with your favourite tipple or cocktail in hand.
Unwind as you sail: With a range of wellness facilities on the ship, your days at sea are a chance to disconnect from the stresses of life on land and find true tranquillity. Indulge in a treatment in the fabulous Atlantis Spa, or kick back by one of the two heated saltwater pools.
