Passengers ‘thought they were going to die’ after brawl breaks out on plane

Flight passengers have described the moment they thought they were going to die after a terrifying brawl broke mid-flight.

Shocking footage shows the moment two men started battering each other as multiple passengers attempt to pull them apart on a Jetstar flight in Australia from Melbourne to Brisbane.

The aircraft had been in the air for just 24 minutes when the fistfight broke out yesterday (Tuesday, October 11), forcing the pilot to turn the plane around and land for the situation to be properly diffused.

One traveller described the brawl as "absolutely terrifying" and went as far as to say they felt like they were "going to die".

Speaking to 9News, they said: "There was a commotion, there was yelling, people started standing up, it went on for a couple of minutes.

"One gentleman was then escorted to the rear of the aircraft, he had blood on his face. We didn't hear anything else, we had no information."

The passenger said the plane then suddenly started descending "without warning" as the captain carried out a priority landing.

Police were waiting when the jet returned to Melbourne airport and both men were removed from the plane. However, no arrests were made.

Witnesses claim one of the men involved in the scrap was behaving aggressively before he boarded, with one saying: "The guy was aggressive before he got on the plane and we thought surely they won't let him on the aircraft."

The flight took off for Brisbane shortly after the two men were removed.

A Jetstar spokesman said the airline has "zero tolerance for disruptive and abusive behaviour".

They added: "The safety of our passengers and our crew is always our first priority and we thank our customers for their patience."
