Inside Chinese city built to look like Paris – complete with fake Eiffel Tower

Visiting the romantic city of Paris is a dream for many avid tourists, but not everyone is as close as we are in Britain.

In an unusual solution to the matter a town in China was built to allow nearby France fans to indulge in the sights.

Visitors can wander down the Champs Elysées, take a selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower and admire the Arc de Triomphe's architecture.

Or at least copies of the famous landmarks and streets of Paris situated in the Cinese province.

The bizarre replica of the French city even has a roundabout which includes a copy of the Arc de Triomphe.

And, you can wander through the landscaped gardens that are a nod to the iconic Luxembourg Garden – complete with a fountain that's a model of the real one back in France.

But, while you can enjoy the architecture of the famous shopping street the Champs Elysées the boutiques and shops are nowhere to be found.

Apartments have even been created in the Parisian-style and cobbled streets and gardens are dotted everywhere.

Tianducheng measures approximately 12 sq miles – far smaller than the 40.7 square miles of the real French capital.

But, the copy cat city is a pretty good replica despite being thousands of miles away from the City of Lights.

One of the highlights is the 'Eiffel Tower', which is approximately a third of the size of the original in Paris.

The real Eiffel Tower measures 1,063 feet high and weighs approximately 10,100 tons.

Tianducheng was built in 2007 and was made to house around 10,000 residents in Yuhang District near Hangzhou, China.

But, the city has since become a popular tourist attraction as holidaymakers use it for photo ops without having to fly 6,000 miles to Paris.

The gated community could comfortably house around 100,000 people, reports Reuters, but so far has not gathered that many residents.

Built to attract wealthy families visitors can even sit on the steps by the Bassin de Latone and next to an imitation of the famous fountain in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles.
