Fantasy festival coming to UK with axe throwing, film orchestra and wand making

Fans of fantasy novels, video games and film will want to hear all about the festival that’s bringing their favourite worlds to life in the English countryside.

Fantasy Forest, a festival that brings all genres from the world of sci-fi and fantasy together in one place, is coming to Sudeley Castle.

The out-of-this-world fantasy festival will take place on July 16 and 17 in Gloucester and will reportedly feature fantastical food and drink, unique experiences and entertainment.

The family friendly, and inclusive, Fantasy Forest celebrates sci-fi and fantasy, fantasy art, board games, cosplay, steampunk and historic re-enactment.

It’s bound to feature on TikTok as film and book fans descend on the castle.

Festival goers can try their hand at a range of craft and skills workshops, including coin cutting, archery, juggling, axe throwing, dance and movement, Japanese sword fighting and even wand making.

You can even hone your skills to become a master Jedi if that’s what tickles your fancy.

And, there’s a massive range of live music across a number of stages!

Festival-goers can also explore the UK’s largest selection of fantasy market stalls, participate in a spectacular costume show, be amazed by stilt performers, listen to captivating stories from the Midnight Storytellers.

Plus, enjoy fascinating talks and workshops from special guests, including fantasy artist Anne Stokes.

Everything from superheroes to Star Wars Characters and Daleks from Dr Who will be present – and the loucestershire Troopers, Iconic Legends and 15th Cyber Legion will be dressed to impress in their screen accurate costumes.

An area known as “Steam Nation” will show off anything Steampunk and hip hop maestro Professor Elemental, dynamic duo Victor and Bully and Alice Strange will be performing.

Guests can also marvel at a spectacular four-metre-high steampunk airship and trike.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the live, two hour al-fresco concert performed by a 65-piece Film Orchestra.

The Orchestra will perform favourites from fantasy films, TV shows and games, such as Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, World of Warcraft, Dr. Who and many more.

Day and non-camping weekend tickets are available here from £19.99 with children under 7 free and discounts for under 15s – but camping tickets have already sold out!

Dogs are also welcome at the festival, but must remain on a lead.

Free on-site parking is available throughout the weekend.
