Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Hilton is opening a handful of new properties around the world. Some of these are your standard run-of-the-mill Hilton Garden Inn properties, but many are much more exciting. Some offer over-the-top luxury while others are located in amazing places, like the secluded Faroe Islands.
Here, I’ll give you a look at a handful of intriguing new Hilton hotels that have or will open in 2021. First, I’ll give you a quick overview of the properties and how to book them for free with Hilton Honors points. Then, I’ll round out the article with a primer on how to earn Hilton Honors points for your next stay.

Roku Kyoto, LXR Hotels & Resorts
Hilton’s first LXR property is opening this September in Kyoto, Japan. The TPG team considers the Roku Kyoto to be one of the most exciting hotel openings of 2021, largely because of its location and amenities. The hotel is situated right outside of downtown Kyoto near the Takagamine Mountains. On-site, you’ll find a tea lounge, spa and even a thermal hot spring pool.
The property isn’t cheap, though. Rates are well over $800 per night this fall, or you can spend 95,000 Hilton Honors points per night on most dates at the end of the year. This makes the property a great use of a Hilton free night certificate that’s included with many Hilton cobranded credit cards.

Resorts World Las Vegas
Opening June 24, Resorts World Las Vegas will become Hilton’s newest — and largest — hotel complex in the Las Vegas market. It boasts 3,500 rooms distributed across three brands: Conrad, LXR and Hilton. Each of the three brands will have its own lobby but feature some shared amenities like 40 on-site dining options and a 117,000-square-foot casino. Judging by the renderings, it will be a sight to behold.

Each of the three properties has varying prices and can be booked with points or cash now. In July, paid rates at the Conrad, LXR and Hilton start at $160, $293 and $120 per night before resort fees, respectively. Alternatively, the Conrad starts at 59,000 points per night, LXR at 87,000 points per night and Hilton at 47,000 points per night this July.

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Curio Collection by Hilton
Speaking of Las Vegas, Hilton opened a new Curio Collection property in Vegas earlier this year. The Virgin Hotel Las Vegas joins other Virgin Hotels in Chicago, Dallas and Nashville as a hip new addition to the Las Vegas market. Rooms feature a modern yet elegant design and are divided into two parts: “The Dressing Room” and “The Lounge.” Plus, the property will have an on-site cocktail bar, coffee shop, multiple restaurants and an ice cream parlor.
Rates at the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas are reasonable too. This August, you can book a room starting at just $137 or 43,000 points per night. I’d recommend booking the paid rate if you book a sub-$200 room — chances are, you can get more value from your points if you use them elsewhere.

Le Belgrand Hotel Paris Champs Elysees, Tapestry
France is reopening to Americans in June, and there’s a new Hilton property to enjoy. The La Belgrand Hotel — a Tapestry property — opened earlier this year and is another one of TPG’s most anticipated openings of the year. The property is located in the heart of the Champs Elysees shopping district, near iconic Parisian attractions like the Arc de Triomphe and The Louvre. Rooms are modern, and there’s an on-site patio where you can enjoy a coffee or other beverage of your choice.
Rooms start at $175 this August, or you can use as few as 40,000 points to cover a night in a standard room. Either can be a good way to stay in a recently reopened Paris.

Atocha Hotel Madrid, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Spain is another European destination set to open in June, and it’s home to one of the newest Tapestry properties in the Hilton portfolio. Rooms at the Atocha Hotel Madrid feel more like apartments than hotel rooms and are equipped with espresso machines and exposed brick walls. Plus, it’s just 10 minutes away from Madrid’s iconic Golden Triangle of Art, which is comprised of three art museums.
You can book rooms starting at just $117 in June, or 30,000 points. Given this low cash price, you may want to put the room rate on your Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and use Capital One miles to offset the charge at a fixed value of 1 cent per point. This means a one-night stay in June costs just 11,700 miles.

Baker’s Cay Resort Key Largo, Curio Collection by Hilton
Key Largo — the closest Florida Key to the mainland — is home to another new Curio Collection hotel. The Baker’s Cay Resort features 14 acres of private waterfront (where you’ll find hammocks to relax), a huge patio and two waterfall pools. Better yet, the rooms are spacious, and most have a private patio where you can unwind in the coastal weather, so try and get a water view if you can.
The hotel is already open and accepting guests, but rates aren’t cheap. It’s already sold out for much of June, and the remaining dates start at $564 per night. Award nights start at 60,000 points per night — an excellent deal for one of the most premium resorts in Key Largo.

Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort
Don’t want to plan your meals or activities in Cancun? No worries. Spend a few nights at the Hilton Cancun, one of Hilton’s newest all-inclusive resorts. The property is set to open in November and is situated on 100 acres of secluded Mayan coastline. Plus, there are multiple pools, 12 restaurants, a private beach and activities that are sure to keep you entertained.
You can stay at this all-inclusive for as little as $350 in November. Award nights start at 78,000 points per night but rise to 95,000 during Thanksgiving week.

Canopy by Hilton London City
London is home to many great hotels, and those wanting to check out the artsy East London have yet another new option. The Canopy London City opens this summer near the Tower of London and hip Shoreditch and Bricklane neighborhoods. This puts you within reach of some of London’s best food, and numerous Tube lines that can take you all over London.
The hotel’s modern rooms are inspired by the “Young British Artists” movement and are the perfect escape from city life. Plus, its rooftop bar is a great place to relax after a long day. You can book a room at this Canopy property starting at $200 or 60,000 points per night.

Motto New York Chelsea
If your big city adventures take you to New York City instead, you have a new Hilton option in Chelsea. The Motto New York Chelsea is opening this August and is close to Manhattan attractions like the Flatiron Building, The High Line, and Chelsea Market. In true NYC fashion, rooms are compact but look modern, clean and comfortable.
The hotel isn’t taking reservations at the time of writing this article, so I can’t give you a points estimate. Rest assured that TPG will keep you in the loop when it opens to the public. Check out one of New York’s other great points hotels if you’re traveling to the city before the Motto opens.

Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands
The Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands is Hilton’s first property on the secluded Faroe Islands. It’s situated in Torshavn, which is right near the coast on the southern end of the islands. This makes it a great jumping-off point for road trips around the Faroe Islands, where you can experience all of the island’s natural beauty. Its no-frills rooms feature Scandinavian design and beautiful views.
This July, rooms are very reasonably priced, starting at just $130 per night. Award travelers can use as little as 35,000 points per night.

How to earn Hilton Honors points
Hilton points are some of the easier hotel points to earn, but the fastest way to earn them is with a Hilton cobranded American Express credit card. Hilton offers various cobranded cards with different fees and benefits, like annual free night certificates and instant elite status.
Some of these cards are offering higher-than-normal welcome offers:
- Hilton Honors American Express Card: Earn 80,000 Points after you spend $1,000 in purchases on the Hilton Honors American Express Card in the first 3 months of card membership. Plus, you can earn an additional 50,000 points after spending a total of $5,000 in purchases on the card in the first 6 months.
- Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card: Earn 130,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend $2,000 in eligible purchases on the card in the first 3 months of card membership. Plus, you earn an additional 50,000 points after spending a total of $10,000 in purchases on the card in the first six months.
- Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card: Earn 150,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after you spend $4,000 in purchases on the card within your first three months of card membership.

Bottom line
It’s great to see Hilton continue to expand its global footprint with interesting new hotels. These are 10 of my favorite new Hilton properties, and I’m excited to check them out as travel resumes this year. Consider redeeming your Hilton points for a night or two at one of these properties if your travel takes you nearby.
