The travel expert team at Bounce have found this year’s best budget destinations. While a stunning holiday spot in Turkey took first place, a “gorgeous” island in Greece made the list.
According to Bounce’s research, Corfu in Greece is one of this year’s best-value destinations to book a hotel.
With hotel prices costing an average of £113 per night, the Greek island could be the ideal choice for a summer holiday.
Corfu is Greece’s seventh largest island and sits in the Ionian Sea, not far from the Albanian Riviera.
The island’s Old Town is an UNESCO World Heritage site and Corfu is actually one of the oldest places in Europe.
Corfu was first mentioned as far back as 1300 BC in ancient Greek writings, making this holiday destination perfect for history fans.
The island’s best-rated attraction on Tripadvisor is Paleokastritsa Beach and it’s not surprising to see many holidaymakers visit Corfu to enjoy its coastline.
A tourist ‘craig the Druid’ wrote on the review platform: “Probably the best place in the North of Corfu.”
‘Clive G’ wrote: “An absolutely gorgeous area must be seen to be appreciated. Beautiful beaches and lots of lovely places to eat.”

The island’s Old Town is also one of its top attractions and is the best place to stay for tourists without a car.
Corfu’s Old Town is extremely walkable and its architecture and cobbled streets have strong Venetian influences.
Tourists could visit one of the island’s popular fish restaurants to try some of the local seafood dishes.
Vegetarians could opt for a traditional stuffed aubergine or pick up a tiropita, a puff pastry filled with feta.
Corfu has strong connections to the Royal Family and it’s actually the island where Prince Philip was born.
The Prince was born at the Mon Repos estate, a former royal summer residence in the south of Corfu.
King Charles III is also a fan of Corfu and has been known to holiday there with Queen Camilla.
The King is thought to have stayed in Kerasia and toured the island on a yacht while he was there.
Tourists visiting Corfu will also be able to tick another country off their bucket list if they wish to.
A short ferry ride connects the Greek island with the Albanian coast, which is known as one of Europe’s most underrated spots.
Tourists will also be able to explore the Butrint National Park, an UNESCO World Heritage site.
Visitors can see the ancient Roman amphitheatre, Roman Baths and Forum at the incredible site.
