JetBlue will announce an expansion of Europe service in the near future, CEO Robin Hayes said Tuesday. 

The airline currently has five Airbus A321LR (long-range) narrowbody aircraft with six more scheduled for delivery before the end of next year. Those new planes will be used to support more transatlantic routes, Hayes said during JetBlue’s Q3 earnings call. 

JetBlue currently flies from New York JFK and Boston to London Heathrow and London Gatwick, with most of those flights operated with A321LRs.

The carrier will eventually operate 26 A321LRs and the even longer-range A321XLR. 

Hayes didn’t name any cities where JetBlue will expand. 

“We see an opportunity out of New York and Boston to fly to a number of European markets, and we are confidently progressing with those plans,” he said. 

On Tuesday, JetBlue reported its first quarterly profit since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, with net income for the third quarter of $57 million.
