In a notice to travel agents this week, Hawaiian Airlines said it was pushing back the implementation date of its GDS surcharge from April 1 to May 31.
The airline said it was giving business partners “more time to make the technical adjustments required to accurately process the modifications and complete testing.”
Hawaiian’s GDS surcharge will be $7 per segment. A roundtrip Los Angeles-Honolulu-Maui itinerary has four segments for a total surcharge of $28.
When Hawaiian announced the GDS surcharge last November, the airline said travel agencies will have three options for avoiding it. They can use HA Connect, which is the carrier’s NDC-enabled direct-connect solution; book via the new Hawaiian Airlines Partner Portal; or book via approved NDC-enabled aggregators.
