Maroma, A Belmond Hotel has announced it will reopen its doors on May 25. The completely renovated property will reveal 10 new waterfront suites, a nature-focused wellness experience in partnership with Guerlain, new sustainability initiatives and a reimagined dining experience.
The original design and architecture will be preserved, but now three-quarters of the 72 accommodations have ocean views, including a spacious new waterfront suite complex with a private pool and garden. The three pools will be redesigned, as well, with Sukabumi tiles with vibrant turquoise colors.
The new wellness experience will feature the first Guerlain Spa in Latin America. Treatment rooms will look out into the jungle and rituals will be inspired by Mayan traditions. Workshops will include meditation, movement and yoga.
Executive chef Daniel Camacho will source 90 percent of his ingredients from Mexico and almost half from the Yucatan peninsula. Maroma will continue its collaboration with Fundacion Selva Maya and Mayahuum to protect the endangered Melipona bee, which is vitally important to the ecology of the Yucatan.
