Barbados is the latest Caribbean destination to be deemed a Level 4 “very high” risk destination for Covid-19, via an update issued on Oct. 5 by the CDC and the U.S. State Department, joining 18 other islands in the region.

Destinations that fall into the Level 4 category have had more than 500 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 28 days, according to CDC criteria.

Barbados was previously listed as Level 3, high risk. This category applies to destinations that have had between 100 and 500 cases per 100,00 residents in the past 28 days.

St. Barts moved down from Level 3 to the Level 2 “moderate” category in the latest update, signifying 50 to 99 Covid cases per 100,000 residents in the last 28 days. The Dominican Republic remains in the same category.

Montserrat, Saba and Statia remain in the Level 1 “low” risk category.
