Viva Cruises launches winter sailings on Europe's rivers

Viva Cruises has launched year-round Europe river cruises as it kicks off its 2023 season.

The cruise line is operating cruises in January, February and March — the usual off-season for the Europe river cruise market — aboard its ships Viva One and Viva Moments.

Viva year-round cruises begin later this month with short, four-night wellness-themed cruises on Viva One. The Rhinegau Wellness Trip and Rhine-Hess Wellness Trip itineraries offer 30-minute massages. The first departure is Jan. 27.

The two routes sail roundtrip from Dusseldorf, with the Rhinegau route making stops in Boppard, Rudesheim, Bonn and Cologne, and the Rhine-Hess trip making stops in Koblenz, Frankfurt and Speyer.

Viva Moments has two four-night itineraries that will sail Dutch and Belgian waterways from January to March.

Citytrip Netherlands and Citytrip Belgium itineraries both sail roundtrip from Dusseldorf on four-night itineraries.  The Citytrip Netherlands route is the first to depart on Jan. 27, and makes stops in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Arnhem, while Citytrip Belgium visits Antwerp, Brussels and Nijmegen.

Viva Cruises, which is based in Dusseldorf and opened its first North American sales office in Fort Lauderdale last May, says the launch of its year-round river cruises will meet the demands of repeat guests who want more options to cruise at the beginning of the year.

“We have an ever-increasing number of repeat guests who discovered the splendors of traveling on the rivers during the beginning months of the year, and now are ready to start 2023 in the best way — with a little time out,” said Andrea Kruse, COO of Viva Cruises. “As the only river tour operator to provide this opportunity, we are thrilled to cater to the wishes of travelers looking to cruise in January, February, and March.”
