Norwegian Cruise Line has entered the metaverse.
The cruise line is auctioning off six non-fungible tokens, known as NFTs, in celebration of the launch of the Norwegian Prima, the line’s first ship in its class.
The cruise line said the six pieces will be symbolic of the six vessels in the Prima class, which are scheduled to launch yearly through 2027. The pieces were created by Manuel Di Rita, known as “Peeta,” who designed the Prima Class’s hull art.
The auction is scheduled for April 13 at the line’s new digital marketplace and the bidding will start at $2,500. The buyer of the first piece will also be awarded a balcony stateroom on Norwegian Prima’s first U.S. voyage.
All proceeds of the NFT collection auction is set to be donated to Teach for America.
