Cruise passengers warned of banned items on a cruise ship

Cruise guests won’t need to worry about liquid limits, but there are quite a few rules they’ll need to follow.

Several everyday items, including candles and irons, are banned on cruise ships for safety reasons.

While guests are allowed to drink onboard, they’re usually either forbidden from bringing their own or only allowed to bring a limited amount of alcohol onto the ship with them.

P&O Cruises states: “All luggage will be security screened for drugs and alcohol as well as dangerous items at embarkation.

“If you have any alcohol in your bag it will be collected at embarkation and returned to you at the end of your cruise.”

Guests can usually purchase alcohol in one of the destinations they visit, but this will be confiscated and returned at the end of the cruise.

Candles are also banned onboard the majority of cruise ships due to the risk of fire caused by an open flame.

Some cruise guests like to bring a battery powered candle onboard to create some atmosphere in their cabin.

Other heating devices including irons, kettles and coffee machines won’t be allowed onboard the ship due to the fire risk.

Guests will usually be able to ask their cruise line if they want to use an iron or they can send their clothes to laundry services.

Hair straighteners, curling irons and shavers are usually allowed as long as they’re in good working condition.
