Hacienda AltaGracia, Auberge Resorts Collection, a luxury wellness resort in the Talamanca Mountains of Costa Rica, opened on Nov. 18.
Sitting on 180 acres, Hacienda AltaGracia has 50 hacienda-style casitas, with one-bedroom accommodations (some with private plunge pools) and two-bedroom structures with large terraces.
The resort is all-inclusive, with the rate covering meals and nonalcoholic beverages, daily activities and ground transfers.
The programming features a mix of Eastern and Western therapies developed in partnership with The Well, a New York-based fitness and wellness club. The resort offers seasonal retreats, daily fitness and mindfulness sessions, health coaching, workshops and a range of treatments.
Each guest receives a complimentary virtual health consultation prior to arrival to establish health history and wellness goals and is matched with a dedicated liaison who helps craft the itinerary.
The resort includes a spa and wellness center with eight treatment rooms, a private airstrip and three miles of walking trails winding through the jungle, in addition to programs such as a horseback ride to a nearby farm to learn about tortilla-making and sugarcane distillations, an excursion to the Mina Escondida waterfall, and naturalist-led hikes through the tropical forest.
AltaGracia hass five dining venues. The husband-and-wife chef team of Arno Janse van Rensburg and Liezl Odendaal work closely with local growers and purveyors.

One restaurant, Cienfuegos, is situated next to the stables and riding ring. Meals are cooked over a coconut-husk fire while diners enjoy an equestrian show.
The property has three pools, including a family pool and an adults-only infinity pool. There’s also a coffee farm and an organic vegetable garden.
The resort offers daily charter flights from Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose and Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, to Perez Zeledon, where Hacienda AltaGracia is located.
