Hyatt is making an all-inclusive push into Bulgaria via its Apple Leisure Group division, announcing plans to open five resorts in the country over the next two years.
The projects, which are all reflaggings of existing resorts, are located in Sunny Beach and Obzor, both of which are along the Black Sea coast. The properties will undergo renovations and be operated by Bulgarian investment and asset management firm Terra Tour Service.
Hyatt’s first four Bulgarian all-inclusives are scheduled to open by next summer. They will include a 335-room, adults-only Secrets Resort & Spa and adjacent 597-room, family-friendly Dreams Resort & Spa in Sunny Beach, as well as a 191-room, family-friendly AluaSun and 318-room, family-friendly Alua Resort in Obzor.
The fifth resort, a 395-room, adults-only Breathless Resort & Spa in Sunny Beach, will open in 2024.
According to Jaime de la Mata, Apple Leisure Group’s senior vice president of business development for Europe, the properties will give Hyatt a strong presence in “the largest leisure destination in the Black Sea,” which draws travelers from markets like the U.K., Germany and the Czech Republic.
Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection has a footprint in Spain and Greece, making Bulgaria its third European country.
Hyatt acquired Apple Leisure Group for $2.7 billion last year.
