The Hotel Danieli, the oldest operating hotel in Venice will become a Four Seasons in 2024 following a renovation.

The 204-room hotel is currently part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection brand. 

French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon has been selected to lead the $34 million renovation of the property, which has been in business for more than 200 years. 

The news was first reported by Italian media.

The Danieli, which counts famous figures from throughout the previous two centuries as former guests, including Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Walt Disney, Charles Dickens and Steven Spielberg, first opened as a hotel in 1822 and has expanded over time to include two adjacent buildings.

It has not yet been announced if the property will close at any time for renovations, nor how much longer it will remain a Marriott affiliate. 

The Hotel Danieli will be Four Seasons’ fourth Italy property, joining hotels in Florence, Milan and Sicily.
