You can stay at Karen’s Hotel where staff insult you and rooms are messy

The infamous Karen’s Diner known for its vicious waitresses who are encouraged to treat guests terribly with verbal abuse, public ridicule and bad manners has now opened an all new Karen’s Hotel. Many of us have laughed as visitors are insulted while chowing down on burgers and pancakes at the cheeky diner, but now you can turn it into a full-night experience.

In "the worst hotel stay you'll ever encounter" you might have a night that feels closer to Fawlty Towers than Claridge’s. The rude and unhelpful staff with their barrage of insults are set to make it a stay you’ll not want to remember!

Of course, it’s all in good fun as guests are prepared for the unusual treatment and have fully signed up for the awkward break. The Australian-American restaurant chain saw major popularity after launching in Sydney, Australia and eventually coming to the UK, United States, Indonesia and New Zealand.

While dining on classic American foods like burgers and pancakes, staff are instructed to put on an abrasive attitude and ridicule guests. Customers are encouraged to egg the servers on by being rude back and taking the Mickey with requests – although racism, sexism and homophobia are thankfully banned from both visitors and workers.

The unusual diners are popular with those who want a laugh and don’t kind the use of swearing and terrible service. Anyone under 16 must be joined by an adult and anyone called Karen – like the diner – can get a free drink.

Now that the diner is an international chain they’ve gone a step further and has partnered with The Hadley Hotel in Barnet, North London, to launch their new concept – a horrible hotel. Guests will meet with rude check-in staff and ridiculous waiters plus if they want to complain about their messy hotel rooms they’re unlikely to get far with the unbothered hospitality staff.

The chain warns that guests "never know what you will find" inside the sub-par bedrooms and are notified that employees will "do their best not to take care of your needs." Thankfully those who want to try out the OG concept can also be roundly insulted at the on-site Karen’s Diner.

The package will set guests back around £179 for two people including the room for your stay, a meal at the restaurant and your breakfast the following morning. If you stick around that long of course.

The Karen’s Hotel starts out strong with the opposite of greats service and states: "Please note that your booking is not confirmed until we call you and F'ing confirm it, and for the love of Karen, don't ask to speak to the manager."

It added: "Karen's Diner has finally come to London, with the first ever London Karen's having launched at The Hadley Hotel in March 2023. Karen's is an interactive diner and an absurdly fun experience. At Karen's you will be greeted and waited upon by rude waiters and encouraged to play a variety of games.

"You can expect good food, good fun and a dining experience like you've never had before. Let us know if it's your birthday, if your name is Karen and for the love of Karen don't ask to speak to the manager…."
