Many of us have booked a holiday only to be surprised that it’s not quite what they planned for when paying, but one woman got more than she bargained for on a recent trip.
Gina, 26, revealed that she'd booked a holiday because the hotel was 'pink and pretty' – only she didn't realise it was a sex hotel.

The shocked holidaymaker posted on Twitter, @geeeeenz_ saying she’d booked a "sex hotel" by accident.
Gina wrote: "I accidentally booked an adults only sex hotel when I was on mushrooms. Oh my God they have a sex toy room and everyone is swimming naked… I just booked it [because] I thought it was pink and pretty."
The travel influencer, @global_gina on Instagram, explained that she’d reserved a room at the gorgeous Pinkcoco in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia.
She explained that she’d thought adult only "meant like no kids running around".
Gina added: "I didn't know it was a sex hotel…. When I saw ‘adult only’ I didn't know that implied sex, I just thought it meant that there would be no kids."
People in the comments of the tweet were gobsmacked.
One person said: "Stop I almost booked this place coz I thought the same thing."
"I checked their listing and they specifically say they don’t allow kids so that adults can enjoy a romantic getaway without children," another noted. "Nothing about their description would lead me to believe it’s a sex hotel."
While a third asked: "Why would children be running around a sex hotel?"
Another person, Dave, said: "You’re not going to believe this, I also booked a sex hotel by accident while drunk….. three times in a row."
The PinkCoco in Gili Trawangan is listed on Booking.com with rooms from £54 a night between two on booking.com.
That’s just £27 each – and you’ll get plenty for your money.
The hotel is a beautiful spot with pink walls and deck chairs, clean modern furniture with Indonesian details and a fab swimming pool.
The resort states that it’s for "cool adults only" and gets romantic sunset views.
The property has air conditioning, a spa centre, restaurant and bar.
There's also an honesty bar and the pool is open all night long.
It also has its own beachfront where you can set up dinner for £88 with four courses and a bottle of wine.
Plus, the hotel has its own boat for island hopping, snorkelling and sunset cruises.
On the Pink Hotels website, it states: "Alright, so you know how once you hit 18, you're legally an adult?
"Well, we're talking about those extra chill folks who are not only adults by age, but also have a super open personality. They're the ‘cool adults.’
"These cool adults are the ones who are totally cool with PDA (that's public displays of affection, if you didn't know) between consenting adults, and they're totally down to hang out with the LGBTQ+ crew.
"They're all about living in the modern world where everyone's free to do their thing, and they're all about accepting and respecting all kinds of lifestyles.
"But, hey, let's not forget that we want all our PinkGuests to play nice with each other, no matter what.
"That means being kind, respectful, and considerate of everyone, no matter who they are or what they're into."
Plenty of Twitter users said that they’d stayed at the hotel with their family, but others explained that the change to adult-only had occurred just this month.
The listing adds: "Starting the 1 of April 2023 all PinkHotels will be converted into ‘Adults Only’ allowing guests to enjoy romantic peaceful holidays, unique moments, and private experiences without any kids around.
"Once we are fully Adults Only we only allow ‘Cool Adults’ and no kids below 16 years of age… Sorry!"
Neither website explicitly states that it is a "sex hotel".
However, the site does state that its sister hotel Pinkcoco Uluwatu, in Bali, has The Daring Room.
The description notes: "'The Daring Room' located at Pinkcoco Uluwatu has been specifically designed for couples who adore to indulge themselves into new secrets and intimate sensations.
"The room, adorned with visually stimulating imagery, is stylish designed in red & black colours.
"It features perfect spaces and toys for rendezvous and daring intimate sessions."
